  • Did you know that we have a bank on campus? Well, we do and they are looking for detail oriented candidates with strong communication skills and a willingness to learn to be the student workers in the bank.To apply, you must be a half day senior, have access to transportation, and be willing to work until 3:30 during the week.If you are interested, see Mrs. Averitt in room 6205 or Mrs. Felicia in the bank. All applications are due THIS FRIDAY so you better get those fast.

 

  • The 1st Annual Rebel Cornhole tournament continues at lunch today. Be sure to cheer on your favorites. Yesterday, we asked you to let us know who you think will be in the finals on Friday. The form keeps updating, but the last time we checked…….

here are folks you predicted to be in the Cornhole Championships 1st Lunch Shift - Hawsey & Shepard are tied with Carroway and Moore 2nd Lunch Shift - Teachers are leading the votes - Mrs. Foster and Mrs. Rawls 3rd Lunch Shift- Lane & Fry are tied with Thornton and Jackson

  • Have you enjoyed the cornhole tournament this week? Would you like to join in next time when we have more lunchtime activities? We have created a new aspect to West Monroe called Student Life. Please join the new Google Classroom called "WM Student Life" to see upcoming events, vote in polls for your favorite participants and check out any student competition brackets. There is a code to join. There will be flyers around the school with a QR code for you to scan and join as well. In the classroom, you can see the poll where you post who you think will be in the finals.  Please join that Google Classroom and vote today!!!

 

  • Thursday from 4:30-6:30 WMHS is having Open House. Your families can come and meet your teachers and staff. They will need a copy of your schedule, so help them out and make them one. You might even want to draw them a map or something. 


 

  • Don’t forget about Coach Osborne’s Driver’s Ed class coming up. It starts right after Labor Day. See Coach Osborne in the PE gym or cafeteria during lunch if you are interested.


 

  • The ASVAB test will be given Thursday, September 28th. You have to sign up before Sept 8th —which is next week—-- with Mrs. Williams or any US History teacher. 

 

  • The WMHS care closet is for students in need and offers items such as hygiene products, school supplies, and clothing. You can also visit Mrs. Amy Johnson in Student Services, Miss Katie Boutwell in room 1222, or Mrs. Alexis Walker in room 1217 if you need any items from the care closet.

 

  • Do you know another language? Do you want to take a test to receive your world language credits for graduation? Well, the AAPPL (apple) test will be given Monday, Sept 25. The cost of the test is $20 and you must register by September 18. See Mrs. Ballance in 2207 if you are interested.


 

  • The WMHS Library is now open. Stop by before school at 7:35 or on your lunch shift to see all of the awesome brand-new library books or enjoy the makerspace activities. Your librarians look forward to seeing you soon!

 

  • Do you love Chick-fil-A chicken biscuits? NOW IS THE TIME to ORDER a chicken biscuit to be picked up before class on Thursday, September 7th! Order quickly at gorebs.org under Online School Payments because there will be a limited number of biscuits sold. Chicken biscuits are $4 and proceeds will help put amazing books into the hands of our students!

 

Now let’s look at what’s going on with clubs. 

 

  • If you are interested in Biology Club, you have until Friday to get your donation for the local animal shelter turned in. These donations mean your name will go on the ballot for voting. See Mrs. Knox in Room 3109 for more information.

 

  • Fellowship of Christian Athletes started this morning, but you can still join in next week. Head to the new gym every Wednesday morning at 7:15 if you want to join.

 

  • If you want to join the Board Game Club, don’t forget to come to the meeting THIS AFTERNOON right after school in the library.

 

  • RebelNation, otherwise known as the Student Section, is open for membership, but the deadline to join is THIS FRIDAY. To join, you can purchase an athletic pass or pay a $3 fee to Mrs. Leslie Jones in Room 3103.

 

  • Chase Leadership Applications can be picked up from Miss Tubbs in Room 4109. Applications are due this Friday, September 1st. If you came to the Chase Leadership interest meeting or if you are interested but couldn’t attend, get an application and get it done by Friday.


 

  • Do you like history?  Do you want to help local organizations such as the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum and the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Home?  Well, then the history club may be a good fit for you.  If you are in the 11th or 12th grade and interested in joining the history club, please see Mr. Aswell’s Teacher Page on Gorebs.org for more information and the link to the application.  Applications are due by THIS FRIDAY, so get this taken care of ASAP.   


 

  • If you are interested in Student Council, you need to attend a meeting Tues Sept 5th at 6:30 in the library. Also, current Student Council members - a note from Mrs. Jones—--- please log on to our Google classroom to choose your shirt style and color.  

 

  • If you are interested in joining Key Club, you can pick up an application outside Mrs. Leslie Pickering’s room which is room 3103. Applications are due back to her by Sept 5th. Former Key Club members and those interested in being members must apply.


 

  • This Friday is our first home football game of the season. It’s senior night for the football players and starts at 7 pm in Rebel Stadium. 

 

  • Friday is SPIRIT DAY and all students and staff are asked to wear RED and we have a pep rally scheduled for that morning. Teachers, please be sure you have shown the Pep Rally Procedures video emailed to you yesterday.  


 

  • Any boy who is new to WMHS but is interested in playing soccer needs to stop by and see Coach Dickman in Room 1204 so he can fill you in on the team and how to join.

 

  • If you are planning to attend the football game or any sport this year, you might consider purchasing an athletic pass. These are $30 and get you into all regular season home games of any WMHS sport. See Coach Walker in Room 5210 or Coach McDuffie in Room 5207 or you can purchase your pass online through Online School payments.
